Finland attractive to talent globally

The annual ranking assesses the ability of 63 economies to attract and nurture talent and is divided into three main categories: investment and development, appeal, and readiness.

It takes into account many areas of interests, such as education, apprenticeships, language skills, cost of living, quality of life and tax rates, to put together scores for the economies.

Finland ranked seventh in this year’s report, a slight drop from last year’s fifth spot. Switzerland retained the top spot, while Nordic countries Denmark and Norway rounded out the top three.

Western Europe is the world’s leading talent hub according to the report, with Canada being the only non-European country to make the top 10.

The US came in at 12th, while Singapore and Hong Kong performed best amongst the Asian economies included in the report, sitting at 13th and 18th place, respectively.

The IMD World Talent Ranking is published by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), a business school with campuses in Switzerland and Singapore. It’s produced using hard data and the IMD Executive Opinion Survey, which compiles input from over 6 000 executives based in the 63 economies.
