Renewable diesel from McFries cooking oil

Finnish company Neste has entered into a circular economy partnership with McDonald’s and HAVI in the Netherlands. The collaboration will see McDonald’s restaurants in the country recycle used cooking oil from French fries into Neste’s renewable diesel, which will fuel the HAVI trucks that deliver goods to McDonald’s. Neste’s renewable diesel can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90 per cent over its life cycle compared to fossil diesel. The cooking oil will be converted into renewable fuel at Neste’s Rotterdam refinery. Image: Neste
