Gasum partners in Sweden on low-emission fuel trial

Finnish company Gasum is collaborating with Orkla and Volvo Trucks to lower transport emissions in Sweden. During a two-month trial period, Orkla’s transport partner GDL will use liquefied biogas (LBG) to fuel transports between Orkla’s warehouse in Helsingborg and production facility for Felix ketchups and dressings in Fågelmara, Blekinge. Gasum is to expand its LBG filling station network in the Nordics with 50 new stations by the early 2020s. Biogas is made from organic waste and can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90 per cent compared to fossil diesel. Image: Gasum

Deltamarin wins design contract for new Finnlines flagships

Finnish company Deltamarin has signed a contract with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai) for the approval and detail design of Finnlines’ two new hybrid roll-on, roll off passenger vessels. The vessels will become Finnlines’ flagships in terms of both size and technology and meet the highest environmental standards. Their loading capacity will be 5 100 lane metres for rolling freight and around 1 200 passengers. The Finnlines Superstars are expected to be delivered in 2023 and, once in service, operate on a route between Finland and Sweden. Image: Finnlines

Moominvalley lands in Italy

Moominvalley, a Finnish animated series based on Finnish artist Tove Jansson’s classic books, has premiered in Italy on children’s channel DeA Junior. Italian kids can now follow the adventures of the curious and idealistic Moomintroll and his extraordinary family. Tove Jansson wrote her first Moomin stories during the Second World War to inspire hope, serenity and trust, and the new adaptation retains their spirit and values. Produced by Gutsy Animations, the series has been sold to countries worldwide. Image: Moomin Characters / Gutsy Animations
