Three US airlines opt for Neste’s sustainable aviation fuel

Neste is supplying Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and JetBlue Airways with sustainable aviation fuel for planes taking off from San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The Finnish company is a global leader in producing renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel from waste and residue raw materials. Neste started to deliver sustainable aviation fuel to the airport through a pipeline earlier in the summer, making it available to commercial, cargo and business operators at SFO. In its neat form and over its life cycle, the fuel can help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 per cent compared to conventional jet fuel.

Superoperator partners on European digital car wash service

Finnish digital car wash pioneer Superoperator and European digital publishing powerhouse Axel Springer have joined forces to build a Europe-wide digital car wash network. The partners have launched the Clever Waschen app and network in Germany, which allows drivers to find the nearest car wash and easily book, pay and access the car wash without leaving the car. Vodafone is supporting Clever Waschen as a connectivity and Internet of Things (IoT) partner. The first car wash operator to join the platform is CleanCar, which is turning its car wash sites digital in Germany and Austria with the Superoperator technology.

MeetingPackage and Event Inc partner in Germany

Finnish company MeetingPackage has announced a new exclusive partnership with Event Inc, Germany’s largest booking platform for meetings, conferences and event spaces. The strategic collaboration will see Event Inc roll out MeetingPackage’s suite of software solutions at hotels and event spaces to make it easier for corporate clients to plan and book meetings while driving traffic to the venues with more direct bookings and quality online services. As part of the deal, Event Inc will also begin to distribute venues working with the MeetingPackage software on its platforms in several European countries.

Suominen invests in European production line

Nonwowens roll at Suominen factory

Suominen, a leading Finnish supplier of nonwoven fabrics for wipes, is upgrading and restarting one of its production lines in Cressa, Italy, to increase its capacity in Europe. The approximately eight million-euro investment comes as demand for nonwovens is growing globally. The upgrades are expected to be finalised in the second half of 2021. End products from Suominen’s nonwovens include wet wipes, feminine care products and swabs. In 2019, the company reported net sales of 411.4 million euros and had a headcount of nearly 700 at its sites in Europe and the Americas.

Rovio teams up for Angry Birds golf experience

Finland’s Rovio, the creator of the Angry Birds franchise, has partnered with global sports entertainment company Topgolf to bring the enraged birds to select Topgolf venues this autumn. The interactive experience will utilise Topgolf’s ball-tracing technology to allow players to hit a ball and destroy virtual structures with famous Angry Birds characters such as Red, Chuck and Bomb. The light-hearted challenges aim to deliver a fun outing for families and friends. Angry Birds started as an immensely popular mobile game in 2009 and today features its own films and series, location-based entertainment and more.
