Brace yourself – Slush 2017 is here!
Now is the perfect time to ditch those woollen socks and that cosy sofa corner – Slush is back to bring some light to the November rain.
When Slush opens its doors, Helsinki will once again become the melting pot of all sorts of technology knowhow. This year, the conference has attracted over 2 600 startups, 1 500 venture capitalists and 600 journalists from over 130 countries.
The event will kick off with the former vice president of the US and now chairman of Generation Investment Management Al Gore giving keynote speech. Following this are two hectic days of pitching, product launches and company stories as well as more than 300 side events.
This year, diversity is of particular importance. Slush has partnered up with HeForShe, UN Women’s solidarity movement for gender equality, to raise funds for its IMPACT Scholarships with PwC. The scholarships are a way of addressing the gender imbalance in STEM (academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics) by supporting outstanding female students.
Worth a special mention is also the 100 startups pitching competition that will be the cherry on top of the Slush cake when the winners are announced on Friday evening.
