Zalando to expand R&D operations to Helsinki
Europe’s largest online fashion retailer Zalando is opening a new technology centre in Helsinki. The centre is set to open in late summer and will employ 50 people during its first year.
The technology centre will focus exclusively on research and development. According to the company, Helsinki was selected as the location for the centre due to its innovative environment. In the future, the number of people employed by the centre may grow to more than 100.
The news was officially announced at the Arctic15 growth company event in Helsinki.
Last year, the German-owned Zalando debuted on the stock exchange. The centre opening in Helsinki will be the company’s second technology centre outside Germany. Last month, Zalando opened a technology centre in Dublin, Ireland, which will recruit up to 200 people over the next few years.
