Finnish food delivery startup Wolt has teamed up with robotics company Starship Technologies to pilot the home delivery of food using robots.

Utilising the Wolt app as per usual, certain customers in Tallinn, Estonia, will be informed by SMS that their order is being delivered by a small robot running on wheels.

Orders are contained in a locked container inside the robot. Hungry customers then greet the robot at their front door, accessing their food by clicking a link received by phone.

The news is a cherry on top for Wolt in 2016, having closed a 10 million-euro funding round earlier this year
