Virta wins Polar Bear Pitching

Finnish electric vehicle charging services provider Virta has taken the crown at this year’s Polar Bear Pitching in Oulu.

A total of 18 companies made their case from an ice hole carved in the frozen Baltic Sea in Oulu Market Square.

In addition to the prize money of 10 000 euros, the Virta team are also headed to Silicon Valley for two weeks, where they will stay in Hacker Hotel Mustakarhu and utilise an office at the Plug-and-Play Tech Center.

The final was judged by a group of international and domestic investors.

Polar Bear Pitching distinguishes itself from other pitching events by not setting a time limit – the catch being that pitchers must maintain their composure whilst standing waist deep in an ice hole.
