Finnish malting company Viking Malt has started co-operation with Colorado Malting Company to produce American malts for the European markets.

With this collaboration the company wants to target the rapidly growing small-scale brewery sector in Europe.

Headquartered in Lahti, Finland, Viking Malt begins production of American craft malts in spring 2016. The collaboration works both ways and Viking Malt’s own selection of malts will now be available for Colorado Malting Company’s customers.

“American-style beers are getting more and more popular,” says Timo Huttunen, business unit manager of Viking Malt. “This collaboration gives us a chance to offer also American craft malts all throughout Europe. We have seen growing interest for these kinds of products for a while now, so we are very pleased with this collaboration and see it as a great opportunity.”
