Valmet’s expertise sought in Laos and Spain

Finnish developer for the pulp, paper and energy industries, Valmet, will deliver key technologies for a new pulp mill in Laos and has received an order for a board machine capacity increase from Spain.

Valmet will deliver key technologies for a new green field dissolving pulp mill in Laos, run by the Chinese firm Sun Paper. The value of the order is approximately 20 million euros.

“We are very pleased to start this dissolving pulp mill project together with Sun Paper,” says Pasi Mäkelä, vice president of pulp mill sales at Valmet. “Valmet has long experience and a wide scope of technologies in supplying equipment and processes for the production of dissolving pulp for various end products. Together with our customer we will create a mill producing pure high-quality pulp.”

Valmet has also received an order from Spanish cardboard manufacturer, Matías Gomá Tomás, for a board machine capacity increase that aims to make its board mill in La Riba, Catalonia, Spain more effective. The order also includes a three-year machine clothing agreement.
