Valmet and Outotec reinforce their technology portfolio
Valmet and Outotec have announced the acquisition of new businesses to reinforce their product and technology portfolios.
Valmet has purchased Italian company Massimiliano Corsini’s tissue rewinder business. The acquired businesses mainly supply rewinders for tissue and non-woven machines.
According to Valmet, the acquisition expands the company’s product portfolio and strengthen its position as a technology and services company. Valmet’s competitive position is also expected to improve, as it can now offer a complete package of tissue-making equipment – from stock preparation to rewinding – combined with process know-how, automation and services.
Outotec, for its part, has purchased the full intellectual property and marketing rights to BIOX bioleaching technology. BIOX is a proven biological method for leaching refractory gold ore. According to the company, the transaction will reinforce its offering of gold-processing technologies.
The operations will be transferred to Outotec after it acquires the majority of shares in Biomin South Africa and a share of Biomin Technologies in Switzerland.
