Finnish Teleste has entered a joint venture with North American broadband company Antronix to bring Next Generation Gigabit cable access to the US broadband market.

Teleste will own the majority of the shares of the join venture, which combines the companies’ Next Generation products and access network technologies. The venture will operate under the name Teleste Intercept.

“We are truly excited to enter this joint venture with Antronix, a company with an excellent reputation and strong position in the US cable broadband market,” says Hanno Narjus, SVP of network products at Teleste. “Emergence of Distributed Architecture is changing the world for cable broadband operators as the new technologies enable significant increase in the broadband speeds to engage subscribers. Additionally, our well-proven Intelligent Network concept offers another major opportunity area for operators who wish to improve network reliability and service availability.”

Teleste Intercept will be headquartered at the Antronix offices in Cranbury, New Jersey, and will take advantage of the already established Antronix brand in the US broadband market. It will provide the industry with the latest in data delivery technology.

Apart from providing broadband solutions, Teleste also offers passenger information solutions in public spaces. Its displays were recently deployed by Deutche Bahn in Germany.
