Salcomp’s new Indian factory to meet demand
Finnish Salcomp celebrated the inauguration of its factory in Noida, located near Delhi, earlier this month.
Salcomp develops and manufactures adapters for mobile phones and other electronic devices, and is the market leader in smartphone and tablet chargers. According to Kauppalehti, mobile phone manufacturers are moving their production from China to India, so Salcomp’s second facility in India is to meet the growing demand.
According to company CEO Markku Hangasjärvi, Noida is the future global hub for mobile phone manufacturers.
“India is growing at a rapid pace; it will surpass the US market next year already,” he tells the paper. “It has been estimated that 300 to 400 million phones will be sold in India next year.”
The investment is worth approximately 10 million euros.
The company says that when the Noida factory is fully operational, Salcomp will have the total capacity of 150 million chargers per annum in India.
