Fighting the Good Fight
Monday, 20 April, 2009
The international financial crisis has struck the economic life, society, everyday life and media environment also in Finland. Quality and security of life have taken a downturn, although we are not yet as deep as we could be. Good news are rare in today's media.
Life lived is much more than the miseries of macroeconomics. Finnish companies have taken an action against the downfall and are working extra hard to rescue what can be rescued. Sales are directed to ever smaller markets and with lesser resources, but they are continuing nevertheless. The public sector is cut back severely but someone has to keep on working. Many people are brave to invest. The recess will not go on forever.
'Good News from Finland' -website is intended to remind the readers that despite the challenges, many good things are happening in the Finnish economy and society. It is comprised of smaller and bigger positive news, which may have been neglected in the mainstream media.
We are not closing our eyes from the reality, and don't advise anyone to do so. We remain in truth and obey the journalistic principles. We are simply fighting the good fight. We publish only good news. They can never be too many.
