Finnish startup Paptic has received the Bio-Based Product of the Year 2017 award at the Bio-Based Live event in the Netherlands.

Held 31 May–1 June, Bio-Based Live focused on process, innovation, technology and sustainable products. Paptic received the Bio-Based Product of the Year 2017 award and promptly tweeted their good news.

Paptic has patented a revolutionary new wood fibre product with properties similar to plastic. Where it differentiates itself from paper is that it is lighter, more durable and even stretches.

“The business idea of Paptic was originally established as a response to the banning of plastic bags in numerous countries,” CEO Tuomas Mustonen explained to us earlier this year. “We wanted to provide an alternative to plastics: the wood-based, recyclable and reusable Paptic material.”
