OP Financial Group ranked as Europe’s strongest bank

According to Bloomberg Markets magazine’s annual list, Finland’s OP Financial Group is the strongest financial institution in Europe.

The American news agency’s surveyed the strength of 114 public and private banks worldwide in total, each with total assets of 100 billion US dollars or more as of 1 June.

The financial institutions were evaluated in five categories, drawing on various ratios that measured the relationship between capital, high-risk assets, bad debts, deposits and efficiency.

Of the 20 banks that made the final list, OP Financial Group was ranked in eighth position overall on a global scale. Sweden’s SEB was the second strongest European bank on the list, coming in at 12th position.

Hong Kong-based Hang Seng Bank came in first position for the second year running, with the top three positions filled out by Norinchukin Bank (Japan) and Oversea-Chinese Banking (Singapore).
