China Mobile (CMCC) has selected the Finnish company’s Virtualized Services Platform to implement CMCC’s first commercial public cloud project based on SDN technology.

China Mobile, the largest telecommunications company in China, was searching for a highly scalable SDN solution with rich services for a massive deployment of around 2000 public cloud servers in Beijing and Guangzhou. Nuage Networks VSP enables CMCC to virtualise its multi-tenant datacentre networks, as well as establish connectivity among computing resources whilst providing more features to customers.

According to Nuage Networks, as a result CMCC can implement new datacentres much faster than with physical deployments, and also reduce operating expenses by up to 50 per cent.

CMCC has been rapidly expanding its network of datacentres. Last year, it deployed Nuage Networks SDN technology in its DevOps private cloud architecture.

Nuage Networks is a Nokia venture based in Silicon Valley.
