Nokia goes behind the Star Wars scenes
Nokia and Lucasfilm have teamed up to deliver an “immersive behind-the-scenes VR experience” of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The experience will be created with OZO VR camera and software. The film, by Lucasfilm, arrives in cinemas in December.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Lucasfilm and Disney to bring the magic of immersive VR storytelling to one of the most exciting and anticipated movie experiences of all time,” says Brad Rodrigues, interim president of Nokia Technologies, in a release. “OZO will enable Star Wars fans around the world to be transported into the incredible worlds depicted in the story, and truly feel the power of The Force together.”
The Last Jedi experience forms a part of Nokia’s multi-year virtual reality technology agreement with The Walt Disney Studios. The agreement supports the creation of VR experiences that complement Disney’s theatrical releases. Previous VR activations include experiences for Pete’s Dragon, Alice Through the Looking Glass and The Jungle Book.
More details on the content and availability will be announced later.
Finland is present in world of Star Wars in many ways. For example, Joonas Suotamo has taken over the Chewbacca suit in next year’s hotly anticipated Han Solo spin-off film. Star Wars: The Force Awakens features contributions by two Finns, a language expert and a camera assistant.
