Nokia enhances networks in Germany and Lebanon
Finnish communications and information technology giant Nokia has inked a pair of significant deals in Germany and Lebanon.
First up, Nokia is transforming the fixed and mobile network operations of Telefonica Germany as part of a managed services contract signed between the two companies.
Nokia will thus simplify and centralise Telefonica Germany’s mobile access, core and fixed network operations. The agreement also includes back office tasks, such as network monitoring and preventative maintenance, along with real-time remote and local support.
Meanwhile, mobile operator Alfa and Nokia have launched Lebanon first 4G LTE-A network, based on Nokia’s carrier aggregation technology. Alfa is the first Lebanese mobile operator to be managed by Orascom Telecom.
The agreement between the two companies will enable Alfa to offer its subscribers significantly higher download speeds of up to 262.5 Mbits/sec. Alongside facilitating access to high-definition video and other data-intensive applications, this development thus paves the way for Alfa to 5G and IoT.
