Next Games has hands on Blade Runner
Finnish mobile game studio Next Games has partnered up with Alcon Entertainment to create a mobile game for Blade Runner 2049.
Blade Runner 2049 is an upcoming sci-fi thriller directed by Denis Villeneuve, set for release worldwide on 6 October.
“We are thrilled to work on Blade Runner, a true pop culture icon,” Next Games CEO Teemu Huuhtanen says. “We are determined to deliver on Blade Runner’s unique themes and vision of the future. Both we and Alcon Entertainment value mobile games that are authentic and true to the original property.”
Blade Runner 2049 is a sequel to Blade Runner, which was published in 1982.
“We are excited to be working with Next Games on this exciting new endeavour,” Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, co-CEOs and co-founders of Alcon Entertainment, tell. “The world of Blade Runner is uniquely rich ground for storytelling across a variety of platforms, games included.”
According to Alcon Entertainment, the film is currently in post-production.
