The Mint of Finland Group has received a 20-million-euro order for metal coins from the Ethiopian Central Bank. The agreement spans three years and covers three different coin values.

The first coin deliveries to Ethiopia will take place six months from the signing of the agreement.

“The transaction will have an employment effect on the Mint of Finland Group’s coin-blank factory in Germany and on its Vantaa-based coin factory,” says Mint of Finland CEO Paul Gustafsson.

The Group considers Africa a market area with excellent potential: “Cash enjoys a strong position in Africa, and the Mint of Finland has been chosen as a potential supplier for central banks in several African countries,” he adds.

The Mint of Finland is among the world’s leading coin exporters, and the largest manufacturer of coins and coin-blanks in the euro area. The Group’s net sales stem from three business areas: blanks, metallic currency and commemorative coins.
