Metso lands EUR 27 million contract in USA

Finnish company Metso has been awarded its largest long-term strategic services contract in North America with the world’s second largest producer of soda ash.

The five-year agreement involves the repairing, rebuilding and servicing existing pyro-processing equipment and systems of in the operation of Tata Chemicals (Soda Ash) Partners located in Green River, Wyoming.

Metso has decades of experience servicing the mining industry and will be a valued partner to Tata Chemicals,” said Martin Keighley, CEO & managing director at Tata Chemicals North America.

The 27 million-euro contract covers the rebuilding of 19 existing pyro-processing units over the contract period, including seven calciners and 12 rotary dryers. The deal also encompasses the supply of installation labour, training for site personnel and full-time Metso experts on-site that will oversee the execution of the work.

The scope of the new agreement also includes several modernisation and upgrade measures to improve safety, efficiency and operational flexibility at the Green River facility.
