Japanese WDB Holdings has acquired all the shares of Finnish Medfiles, which will be turned into the company’s European headquarters.

Medfiles has been operating in Finland for over three decades, and has maintained a presence in the Baltics for 20 years. The company sells services in the likes of product development, laboratory analytics and clinical research.

“With a new owner, Medfiles has a unique opportunity to serve clients from Japan and elsewhere globally,” says Medfiles’ president and CEO Tuija Keinonen. “Together with WDB, we are taking a huge step in our internationalisation strategy. As a solid and profitable listed company, WDB offer us a strong base from which to grow and to offer even broader services to our clients.”

In addition to its Japan offices, WDB is present in the US, India and Singapore. According to Keinonen, Medfiles will be able to utilise the network for international growth yet retaining its Finnish identity.

The acquisition does not affect present contracts or the personnel.
