Man and a Baby has been awarded the title of Best Nordic Feature 2017 at the Nordic International Film Festival in New York.

The award was received by director Marja Pyykkö, producer Markus Selin and actor Petteri Summanen in person.

“This is such an honour,” Pyykkö said right after the announcement, according to a press release.“We are all very surprised, astonished and absolutely overwhelmed. This attention is unexpected.”

Selin was just as happy about the win.

“It’s wonderful that critics and the festival have found the film and appreciate it,” he noted.

Man and a Baby (Yösyöttö) is based on a novel written by Eve Hietamies, and it tells the story of a man whose wife jumps into a taxi and disappears after the baby is born. The film is produced by Solar Films and distributed by Nordisk Film.
