Vipukirves Heikki, manufacturer of the Leveraxe, organised a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign in August and September in order to finance its expansion to the United States.

The popularity of the campaign exceeded all expectations, raising  222 230 US dollars for the company through 1 784 backers. In addition to the United States, Leveraxe orders were made from Canada, Belgium, Serbia, New Zealand and South Africa.

The raised funds will facilitate the company’s entry to the US markets, but also allow it to develop a lighter, more durable carbon fibre handle for the axe, simultaneously enabling a lower resale price.

The effectiveness of the Leveraxe is based on its leverage and rotating action. According to the company, the Leveraxe splits wood faster, safer and more effectively than a traditional axe.

Last year, Leveraxe won the American Handy Innovation Award in the category of Household Inventions.
