Finnish construction company Lemminkäinen has signed an agreement worth over 19 million euros with Norwegian power company Småkraft to construct two hydropower plants.

The contract covers the entire construction of the power plants in the Sogn and Fjordane County in Western Norway, including intakes, shafts and tunnels. Work is set to begin this month and is slated for completion in December 2016.

The contract is part of Småkraft’s Fjærland project in which it is developing six small-scale power plants along rivers flowing into the Fjærland fjord.

Lemminkäinen is also set to build tunnel intakes for two additional power plants in the Fjærland project, with their construction measuring some 2.5 kilometres.
