KPA Unicon to supply green power plant in Portugal
KPA Unicon is to deliver a 5MW Unicon Altius power plant running on renewable energy to Juncal, Porto de Mos in Portugal, after signing a contract with Termoflorestal.
The power plant will generate power to the local electricity grid and also steam for the biomass drying process taking place at a neighbouring pellet plant.
“Biomass-based boiler plants using this combustion technology are built mainly in Scandinavian countries, so it is great to have exported our technological know-how to other parts of southern Europe, where such technology is not yet widespread,” says Olli-Pekka Aarnio, key account manager at KPA Unicon.
The contract includes the design of the power plant, delivery of its main process equipment, consulting on construction and installation and personnel training. It is expected to be delivered in November 2018.
