Koskenkorva goes double in Kazakhstan
Altia is to commence exporting Finnish Koskenkorva Vodka to Kazakhstan as of this coming autumn, with the help of Orange Trading.
The two companies have signed a distribution contract, and the deliveries are set to begin in August or September.
“This marks the opening of a significant market for us in Central Asia,” says Janne Halttunen, SVP in charge of exports at Altia. “Our Russian exports have been on the rise for a while now, and the contract for distribution to Kazakhstan is a natural continuation. Orange Trading is a strong partner that can develop the Koskenkorva Vodka brand over the long term.”
Koskenkorva Vodka is currently exported to almost 30 countries.
Kazakhstan will get a taste of Altia before the exports begin at the Astana Expo 2017, as the company will participate in the fair alongside with around 70 other Finnish companies. The theme of the expo is ‘Future Energy’, and Finland’s pavilion includes renewable and sustainable energy solutions. Altia’s Koskenkorva distillery is a forerunner in the bio and circular economy sector, using e.g. barley husk in the plant’s own bioenergy power plant.
At the expo, Altia will set up a cocktail bar serving not only drinks, but also Finnish food.
“Astana Expo is a good opportunity for us to highlight Finnish beverage manufacturing expertise,” Halttunen notes. “Pure raw materials and a high-level distillation process, as well as the brand’s long history and genuine story, are the competitive factors we can use to distinguish ourselves in the Eastern European and Central Asian markets.”
