Finnish crane and lifting equipment maker Konecranes has received an order for six Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes from DP World Maputo, Mozambique.

DP World Maputo is a significant container-shipping gateway to southern Africa, linking regional production, mining and commercial hubs to the markets of south-east Asia.

The port is almost solely focused on origin and destination throughput, serving as the main shipping terminus for land-locked regions including South Africa’s Gauteng province, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Botswana.

The 16-wheel RTGs on order have a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes and will be equipped with Auto-steering, Stack Collision Prevention, Truck anti-lifting and a Truck Positioning System. The cranes will also be equipped with remote service TRUCONNECT, providing around the clock access to a global network of support centres.

The cranes are set to be delivered towards the end of next year.
