Kone acquires its German competitor Janzhoff Aufzüge

Finnish Kone Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has acquired Janzhoff Aufzüge GmbH, a German company providing elevators as well as maintenance and modernization services. Founded in 1945, the company currently has 2 400 elevators in service and employs approximately 100 people.

“We are happy to welcome Janzhoff Aufzüge and its skilled employees to our organisation,” says managing director of Kone Germany Axel Berkling. “With this acquisition we expect to strengthen our position in the region. It brings a customer base which offers new opportunities in maintenance, modernisation and new installations.”

Kone provides elevators, escalators, automatic building doors and integrated solutions to enhance the People Flow in and between buildings. In 2014, Kone had annual net sales of 7.3 billion euros, and at the end of the year over 47 000 employees.
