Kemira is set to introduce a new transportation management operation model after partnering up with US-based global logistics solutions provider Odyssey Logistics & Technology.

Odyssey will start to operate Kemira’s external road transportation activities during the first quarter of 2017. The new model will be implemented in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America.

The chemical company’s plan is to have the new transportation management operation model in place by the end of next year.

In September, Kemira launched an operational excellence programme, ‘Boost’, to improve efficiency. Estimated annual savings run-rate are between 20 and 30 million euros in two-to-three years’ time.

“One of the key findings of the Boost program was that our transportation capabilities – i.e. tools and processes – were not fully optimised for Kemira’s transportation needs,” says Kemira’s Esa-Matti Puputti, executive vice president, operational excellence. “With this new operation model, we are targeting to improve transportation efficiency and the service level to our customers.”
