Finnish health data science company Kaiku Health has partnered with Swiss health care company Roche to develop unique patient support in cancer immunotherapy.

The collaboration will combine Kaiku Health’s digital symptom management solutions, which monitor patients’ health status in real time, with Roche’s expertise in cancer immunotherapies and global market access.

“In co-creating with Roche, we are investigating how to best combine digital interventions with administered drugs in order to provide optimal patient care,” said Lauri Sippola, CEO at Kaiku Health. “This collaboration is the first of its kind and could lead to increased adoption of digital patient monitoring in clinical practice and next-generation support for cancer patients.”

Kaiku Health and Roche plan to launch and pilot the new patient support modules for immunotherapy in Germany, Switzerland and Finland in the first half of 2019.

There are currently more than 40 European hospitals and clinics that have implemented Kaiku Health’s digital platform. The Finnish company’s internationalisation efforts were boosted by a 4.4 million-euro funding round last year.
