Juustoportti

Finnish Juustoportti has become the first European dairy to be Welfare Quality approved. The certificate is in recognition of well-executed animal welfare.

Juustoportti was rewarded with the certificate thanks to its programme that systematically improves the welfare of its farm animals.

Additionally, its free-range cow dairy products are the first in Europe to be classified at “Enhanced Welfare Quality” level. This means that all of these products encompass enhanced WQ-level milk.

The Welfare Quality (WQ) assessment is based on strong scientific evidence and measures animal welfare worldwide. The dairy can only use the WQ certificate on its products if all of its facilities have been assessed.

Based on the WQ assessment the farm receives a grade on the level of the animal welfare, which has to be consistently good across all the different welfare areas. The enhanced grades are the rarest in Europe.
