Joensuu Regional Development Company (JOSEK) and Z-Park ECEPC, a Chinese civil organisation comprising experts, businesses and research institutions from the environmental protection industry, have entered into a partnership.

The objective of the strategic partnership is, one the one hand, to provide assistance to businesses entering China and, on the other, to attract investments from China to Joensuu.

JOSEK will under the agreement be responsible for identifying businesses with the capacity and willingness to break into the highly contested markets. Z-Park ECEPC, in turn, will be tasked with finding local distributor and other strategic partners for the businesses to help them to gain a foothold in China.

Z-Park ECEPC is an international not-for-profit organisation offering a wide variety of services to the energy conservation and environmental protection industries.

The two partners have already begun building a collaborative network with the objective of identifying eight businesses or other investment opportunities that meet the requirements by the end of 2018.

Also involved in the collaboration is Business Finland, according to a press release from JOSEK.

Li Guangyun, director at Z-Park ECEPC, has paid a visit to Joensuu to learn about local businesses potentially interested in entering China. One of the sites he visited was a decommissioned garrison in Kontioranta, which has been actively marketed to Chinese investors by the municipality of Kontiolahti and JOSEK.

Guangyun, an ex-commercial counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Helsinki, has extensive relationship networks in both China and Finland, and has helped several Finnish companies to establish themselves in the Chinese markets.
