Variety reports that Finnish actor Jasper Pääkkönen, known internationally for his role in Vikings, has been cast in Spike Lee’s Black Klansman.

According to the entertainment site, Pääkkönen will join John David Washington, Topher Grace and Adam Driver in the movie. Director Lee is also producing the film together with Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, QC Entertainment and Blumhouse.

Variety tells that Black Klansman is an adaptation of Ron Stallworth’s autobiography, depicting the story of a man who challenged the Ku Klux Klan.

Concerning the actor himself, the site notes that the role “marks a huge break on the domestic audience front for Pääkkönen, as the Finnish thesp is well known in his native country”. Internationally he is best known for his role as Halfdan the Black in the History Channel hit show Vikings, which will see its 5th season hit the screens on HBO Nordic later this month.
