Finland’s Invesdor is opening up the first ever equity-based crowdfunding channel in Norway.

The first Norwegian company to seek crowdfunding through Invesdor is Cloud Solutions, a company specialising in software for the insurance sector, which is seeking funding of up to 945 000 krone, or around 100 000 euros.

Previously, Norwegian companies have not been able to seek equity-based crowdfunding, because the country’s financial supervisory authority, Finanstilsynet, requires crowdfunding companies to hold an investment services licence. Last year, Invesdor was the first European crowdfunding company to be granted an MiFID-level investment services licence, which has now allowed the company to expand its operations to Norway.

“This is something totally new to Norwegian companies,” says Invesdor CEO Lasse Mäkelä.  “We are now in an excellent position to be the first one to tap into and grow Norway’s crowdfunding markets.”

The Norwegian crowdfunding share issues are organised in Norwegian krone. Invesdor is also planning to start up similar crowdfunding operations in Denmark.
