Finland-based startup Huone, which offers meeting rooms for events and conferences, is expanding to the top 10 meeting cities in the world, starting from Singapore.

Finnish startup innovation Huone, which has been in operation for nearly four years, offers spaces for companies to take their internal meetings out-of-office as well as larger venues for event organisers seeking for creative spaces instead of hotel ballrooms.

“Technology has changed the way we work, and it has impacted the way business meetings run,” says Huone’s CEO Evon Söderlund. “Meeting in person and the importance of human touch is necessary to build trust. There is a growing demand for people to meet and network in smaller events where human co-operation is fundamental. Successful meetings will help to expand people’s interest, experience, creativity and productivity, which are the leading assets of any business.”

The company’s vision is to establish Huone meeting room hotel in all the top 10 meeting cities in the world by 2025. Huone starts from Singapore and then heads into Seoul (2018), Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Brussels, Amsterdam, London, Copenhagen and Tokyo. Afterwards the company is looking towards the US.

Huone is entering the international market with its Finnish identity bringing Finnish designs and brands to the global scene. For example Finnish companies Framery and Genelec and Finnish rye distillery Kyrö Distillery Company have already jumped on the bandwagon. The company also promises that a hint of Finnish cuisine will also be introduced in all units of the Huone chain.

Huone has hosted over 3500 meetings and tripled its turnover to 1.2 million euros in less than four years. The company has also been selected twice as The Best Event Venue in Finland.
