Hiab keeps on trucking in India

Hiab produces a variety of on-road load handling equipment and services.

On-road load handling specialists Hiab, part of Finnish cargo handling company Cargotec, has received a significant order from Tata Motors, India’s largest automobile company.

The contract for over 1 200 Hiab loader cranes relates to a 2009 tender that was initiated to truck companies by the Indian Army. Tata Motors eventually won the order for over 1 200 army trucks, including 8 tm Hiab 088 loader cranes.

“Hiab has been working a long time with this Indian Army project and we are delighted that the Hiab cranes were chosen after having undergone stringent testing,” Mr. S. Srinivas from Hiab GBO India.

Hiab’s cranes have been adapted to meet Army requirements. The trucks and cranes are to be used for the transportation and loading-unloading of pallets, spares and other operational equipment.

The duration of the contract extends until the end of 2016, with the first deliveries to be made late this year.
