Hesburger to open 15 new restaurants in Russia
Hesburger is planning to launch 15 new fast food restaurants in Russia, the first of which will open in St. Petersburg this week. Nine of the new restaurants will open in St. Petersburg and the remainder in other cities, such as Moscow and Novosibirsk.
Including the new ones, Hesburger has altogether 38 restaurants in Russia. Megagroup, which owns Hesburger’s franchising rights in Russia, is in charge of opening the restaurants.
“Russia is a developing market of enormous potential, in which we already have a strong momentum,” says Hesburger’s CEO Kari Salmela. “The downturn and complicated political situation are, of course, certain to increase the risks, but they also create opportunities; leases, for one, are currently lower than normal.”
Hesburger has operated in Russia since 2010.
“We have a few years’ experience of Russia and co-operation with our partner is going well. We believe that our positive momentum will continue also in the future,” Salmela adds.
