Finnish engineering house Haltian has announced a partnership with leading Internet of Things (IoT) cloud platform provider Kii.

The collaboration enables Kii’s developer community to create a number of state-of-the-art IoT devices and solutions aimed at both consumers and businesses by utilising Thingsee, Haltian’s innovative IoT development platform.

Development and production is set to begin immediately, with a global release slated for autumn this year. The initial devices to emerge from the partnership will target products in the categories of kids safety, smart wearable and smart home.

Part of the agreement also sees Kii and Haltian combining their respective platforms into one package that will be released to Kii’s 15 000 independent developers and to the general market in June. Here Thingsee will work in conjunction with Kii Cloud, simplifying the complexity of building out servers and infrastructure.

“The combination of Haltian’s device hardware and software design excellence and Kii’s massively scaled backend will result in a best of class offering,” stated Masanari Arai, CEO of Kii.
