The German airline also flies a plane full of Swiss media and travel professionals to get to know the winter wonderland of Lapland.

The three new winter-season routes serve travellers from Berlin and Zürich to Rovaniemi and from Düsseldorf to Kittilä. This is the first time Germania flies to Finland.

“Opening three new routes for the same winter season is remarkable from one airline,” says head of global sales promotion Heli Mende from Finpro’s Visit Finland unit. “It also increases air traffic to Lapland significantly.”

The flights from Berlin and Düsseldorf have already commenced, and Germania’s subsidiary in Switzerland will start operating the flights between Zürich and Rovaniemi in mid-December. There will be two flights a week until the end of April.

This week, to promote its new destinations, Germania and its travel agency partner Glur Reisen are organising a trip for Swiss media and travel agencies. In total over a hundred participants get to know Rovaniemi, Ruka and Kuusamo during their three-day visit hosted by Visit Finland and Visit Rovaniemi.
