Funzi promotes lifelong learning with UNOPS
Finnish mobile-learning service Funzi is collaborating with UNOPS, an operational arm of the United Nations, to provide learning tools to disadvantaged communities and everyone else.
Funzi will offer UNOPS the latest tools in online-learning as the two collaborate on UNOPS projects around the world to aid the United Nations in reaching its Sustainable Development Goals, where quality education for everyone plays a pivotal role.
“Our work with Funzi is an example of how the private sector can step up to the plate and help solve pressing global challenges,” executive director of UNOPS, Grete Faremo explains.
Their first joint-project is a two-day ‘UNOPS Possibilities’ forum in Amman, Jordan, supporting women-owned and small and medium sized businesses, which is followed by training where Funzi’s mobile learning platform will equip the entrepreneurs with tools and knowledge on how to grow their businesses.
The mobile entrepreneurship course will also address common knowledge gaps and barriers experienced by traditionally disadvantaged businesses and will be free for everyone with access to a connected mobile device.
“Improving livelihoods and economic opportunities goes a long way to encouraging the sustainability of whole communities,” says Tero Salonen, CEO and founder of Funzi.
“Funzi’s mobile learning platform is a great example of how innovative and traditional teaching methods can be used together to accelerate the development of economies globally.”
The partnership between Funzi and UNOPS will officially be launched during day two of Slush, on 1 December.
