Finnish universities among world’s best under 50

Times Higher Education has named a trio of Finnish higher learning institutes in its 150 Under 50 Rankings. The list gathers together 150 universities worldwide that were established less than 50 years ago.

Aalto University was the highest placed representative from Finland, in 28th position. Meanwhile, the University of Eastern Finland was ranked 63rd and Lappeenranta University of Technology in the 100-150 bracket.

Overall, universities were evaluated by performance indicators covering teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income.

Switzerland’s École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) was named as the list’s top ranking university worldwide for the second year in a row.
