Finnish short film rates a mention at Cannes

The Ceiling (Katto) has received a special mention from the jury at the Cannes film festival.

The film is directed by Teppo Airaksinen, written by Melli Maikkula, and produced by John Lundsten‘s TACK Films.

It tells the story of recent divorcee Olavi, whose summer cottage ceiling has inexplicably descended. The cast is made up of Pekka StrangJuho MilonoffInna Bodson and Iida-Maria Heinonen.

The film was produced with the support of the Finnish Film Foundation, AVEK and Yle.

The Ceiling was competing in the short film category, where there were 4 843 entries this year. The overall winner was Chinese film A Gentle Night by Qiu Yang.
