Finnish documentary ‘Tale of a Lake’ is expanding its audience to the US.

The movie has already been sold to over 30 countries worldwide and now it has caught the attention of the US. In a recent deal between the distributor LevelK and AMC Networks Sundance Now the American entertainment company landed the documentary’s screening rights in North America.

Thus, Tale of a Lake will be available via on demand streaming service Sundance Now from 21 December. The documentary is set in Finland’s thousands of lakes, investigating the myths, legends and old beliefs in Finnish mythology. The documentary is directed by Marko Röhr and Kim Saarniluoto and has been distributed by Nordisk film.

In Finland, the film’s theatrical run was so popular with audiences that it became the most watched domestic documentary film ever.
