A new innovation developed by ABB Finland reduces fuel consumption and environmental load in shipping.

The generators of many ships rotate at constant speed, wasting energy. The new electric power system Dynamic AC developed by ABB optimises the rotating speed of the main engines and reduces annual fuel consumption by up to 6 per cent. In a large cruise vessel this means a reduction of approximately 2 000 tonnes in annual fuel consumption.

Dynamic AC is the most recent innovation resulting from ABB’s product development efforts aimed at improving energy efficiency in the shipping industry.
