Finnish industry powers efficiency worldwide
Finnish industrial companies Valmet, Reka Cables and Wärtsilä are providing maintenance, automation and power solutions around the world.
First up is Valmet, which has signed a long-term service co-operation agreement with Ittihad Paper Mill to provide maintenance and other production-related services for the new Ittihad Paper Mill in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
A 320 000 tpa (tonnes per annum) fine paper machine supplied by Valmet is still under construction at the mill and is expected to be operational in late 2018.
Elsewhere, Valmet will upgrade the automation system onboard Royal Caribbean International’s cruise ship M/S Mariner of the Seas with the latest Valmet DNA technology.
The Finnish company is also strengthening its wastewater automation business in Japan through a distribution agreement with Tsukishima Kikai (TSK). The deal sees Valmet provide its advanced wastewater automation and measurement technology, while TSK will handle sales, engineering and service in Japan.
Then onto Neo Industrial‘s subsidiary Reka Cables, which has secured an approximately 10-million-euro contract for underground power cables from an unnamed company. The cables will be delivered during 2018–2020.
And finally to Wärtsilä, which is supplying a 211-megawatt smart power generation plant to AGL Energy Limited in South Australia. The final go-ahead for the project has now been issued, and Wärtsilä will make the delivery to the Barker Inlet Power Station on an engineering, procurement and construction basis.
