The collected works of Finnish director Rax Rinnekangas and his long-time collaborator, French composer Pascal Gaigne, will be released as a boxset by Quartet Records at the Spanish premiere of Rinnekangas’ new film.

All six of Rinnekangas’ films will feature in the boxset, including his latest, Maailman Viimeinen Kirjakauppa (The Last Bookshop of the World).

The boxset will be released on 8 November at the Spanish premiere of Rinnekangas’ new film, organised at the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. The collection also includes four soundtrack albums from the French composer and a book analysing all the works.

Rinnekangas’ latest film The Last Bookshop of the World sees four literature lovers set out on an adventure in the desert to establish the ‘world’s last bookshop’ in order to preserve quality literature from the dangers of modern society. The film is written and directed by Rinnekangas, and, as usual, Gaigne handles the film score. Leading actors include Hannu-Pekka Björkman, Kaisa Kukkola, Nacho Angulo and Boris Koneczny.

“Reading demanding literature is not elitism but cultivation that everyone should engage with,” Rinnekangas points out in a press release.

The Finnish Film Foundation and AVEK are also supporting the release of the collection of works from Spanish record label Quartet Records.
