Finnish design receives international recognition

Chairs created by Finnish furniture designers Mikko Laakkonen and Sami Kallio have received awards at the Miaw Muuuz International Awards 2014 design competition in Paris.  

Mikko Laakkonen’s Kaava chair, designed for the furniture company Isku, was voted best in the Office Chair category. Laakkonen was also voted furniture Designer of the Year by the Finnish Association of Designers Ornamo.

Sami Kallio was awarded the Main Prize in the Chair category for his design In Between SK1. The chair is manufactured by the Danish company &tradition

Close to 22 000 architects, interior designers and designers voted for their favourite products in the competition’s six categories from among nearly 150 products. Altogether 43 product designers from 15 countries received awards.
