Finnish 3rd Eye Studios secures EUR 850K funding

Finnish game development and technology startup 3rd Eye Studios has closed a 850 000-euro funding round, which boosts the company’s technology advancement and upcoming games.

The main investors included ColoplNext/ColoplVRFund, Karl Magnus Troedsson, Sisu Game Ventures, GameFounders, Success (China) and a group of private investors.

3rd Eye Studios will use the funding to develop its proprietary 3rd Eye Core tools and technology, and also to build games for emerging platforms such as virtual reality (VR), including the company’s VR game saga Downward Spiral.

“At 3rd Eye Studios part of our mission is to build the next generation of game development tools, with our unique toolset 3rd Eye Core that can be used by by both consumers and developers to create awesome new content,” says 3rd Eye Studios CEO Kari Koivistoinen.

The company is currently testing its 3rd Eye Core game development toolset in Finland and China. The toolset can be utilised for fast and effective game design on VR, PC and mobile platforms, and it is slated for release next year.

3rd Eye Studios was founded in 2016 by a group of Finnish game industry veterans from companies such as Remedy, Bugbear, Moon Studios, RedLynx and Unity.
